If you're trying to reach someone in the Turks and Caicos Islands, simply dial the area code 649 followed by the seven-digit phone number. Local calls require only the seven-digit number.
Services on the island are provided by Cable and Wireless. This includes local, long distance, Internet, and cellular services. Dial 649-946-2200 for information on local service; 800-744-7777 for long distance; 649-266-6328 for Internet access; and 811 for cellular service.
Long distance calls can be made from the islands by dialing 0 and the country code, then the area code and number. Long distance calls from hotels can include extra surcharges, so keep that in mind when making your calls.
If you're traveling from the United States, check with your provider to see if you can use your own cell phone on the islands - many people can. Otherwise, you can rent one from Cable and Wireless.
Internet access is also widely available. Provo and Grand Turk have Internet kiosks, and hotel rooms with phones are also connected. Any phone will connect you if you dial C-O-N-N-E-C-T to call Cable and Wireless with the user name "easy" and password "access."
When you get to the Turks and Caicos Islands you can stay as connected as you want to be, thanks to the many telecommunications options the islands have to offer.
