You'll find plenty to enjoy in the US Virgin Islands

The US Virgin Islands offer travelers interesting vacation opportunities; while much of these American island have an urban feel, there is plenty of nature to experience - mingled in with a rich culture and history.


Hansen Bay Beach

You'll discover an abundance of beaches to consider visiting in the area. Whether you prefer people watching, or you'd rather have more of the beach to yourself, you should be able to find just the right beach. Just click on each beach name to get additional information about that beach.

If you want to go snorkeling, a location where that's an option is Hansen Bay Beach. Hansen Bay Beach is located just off East End Road.

Another good option for snorkelers is Turtle Beach. Buck Island is apart of the U.S. National Park system because of its impeccable white sand beaches and underwater glories.

Cinnamon Bay: Cinnamon Bay's beach is accessible off of Peter Bay Road. A small area for parking is available directly before the beach.

Landmark Attractions

Steeple Building

An interesting landmark worth visiting is Steeple Building. It is found in downtown Christiansted. Exhibits at the Steeple Building include ancient Indian artifacts, Victorian and Danish architecture, and a study of the plantation era with a great deal of emphasis on the slave industry.

Another popular destination is St. Thomas Historical Trust. It is located within downtown Charlotte Amalie. The St. Thomas Historical Trust Museum is a small museum set by the St. Thomas Historical Trust as their physical head quarters. Here, visitors may catch a glimpse of the island's history or arrange for a guided tour from dedicated trust members.

Seven Arches Museum: Seven Arches is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Natural Attractions

Virgin Islands National Park

Virgin Islands National Park is one of the more frequently visited outdoor tourist attractions. Virgin Islands National Park is a huge endeavor, encompassing more than 7,000 acres on the island of St. John. The diverse landscape of the park lends itself to everything from trail hiking to swimming, and even camping.

Hassel Island Historic Park is a second outdoor attraction you should consider visiting. Once connected to St. Thomas at the edge of the harbor, this island was separated and turned into a completely new island by the Dutch who hoped to create better water circulation. Today it is privately owned, but an important natural and historical landmark.
