Because the USVI are a U.S. territory, postage from the U.S. mainland to St. Thomas, St. Croix, or St. John are the same as in the continental United States. Keep in mind, though, that all letters and packages are subject not only to domestic rates, but domestic restrictions as well.
Postal services are reportedly less efficient in the BVI. Post offices in Road Town (Tortola) and Spanish Town (Virgin Gorda) charge $0.55(USD) for a first-class letter or $0.35(USD) for a post card to any of the following countries: USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom.
If mailing from the BVI to other Caribbean Islands, the United States or Canada, expect letters to take between seven and 14 days for airmail, or one month to six weeks for surface mail. When mailing to U.K., average delivery time is two or three weeks. Australia, New Zealand, and Asia can take three to four weeks, or more.
If mailing to BVI from abroad, make sure you are as specific as possible when addressing your letters, packages, and postcards since there are no postal or zip codes.
