Vieques Landmarks

In spite of the island's small size and secluded nature, there are actually several important landmarks that tourists should consider checking out.  These sites tend to be ruins that tell the tale of how Vieques came to be the destination it is today just by allowing visitors to look around and explore on their own.

A landmark that often intrigues visitors is Vieques Conservation and Historical Trust. It is located within Esperanza, Vieques. The Vieques Trust manages several facilities around the island including the History and Culture Museum, Marine Life Exhibit, William and Mary Littleford Pavillion, Baker BioBay Room, and VCHT Garden.

Do you enjoy learning some of the history of the places you visit? If yes, you might want to visit some of these historical attractions during your vacation.

If you are looking to do some sight-seeing, visit Fortín Conde De Mirasol. It is located on Vieques. Guests who want to learn more about the island and the fort will want to head to Fortin Conde de Mirasol and explore the museum that it now holds. Of course, you can simply choose to explore the fort from the outside.

If the more functional aspects of life by the sea interest you, consider visiting Punta Mulas Lighthouse. First lit in 1896, the Punta Mulas Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse on the island of Vieques. The lighthouse was built to guide sailors though the difficult to navigate through reef system that surrounds the island, and it one of two located there.
