Puerto Diablo, on the eastern end of Isla de Vieques is closed to the public, but it remains a gorgeous stretch of sand that many visitors are willing to sail close to shore just to catch a glimpse.
Situated toward the center of the island of Vieques, Puerto Diablo is on the East coast of the island, You might want to drop by even if you are not staying in the vicinity. Many visitors seek a beach that hasn't been "discovered" by thousands of tourists; beautiful but out-of-the-way beaches like Puerto Diablo let you escape people-watchers and rowdy beachgoers.
Puerto Diablo is accessible only by boat.
Puerto Diablo is a white sand beach with crystal clear waters and trees lining the shore. It is a bit rocky here, and the numerous local birds gathering on the rocks is a sight to behold.
Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot.
Puerto Diablo offers those who visit a calm and relaxing environment, due to the fact that the surrounding area is more rural than urban.
You'll find this beach on the East coast of Vieques. It is near some interesting sites like, which is reachable in a taxi, and it is one of a few attractions in the region.
Historical attractions such as Fortín Conde De Mirasol provide the perfect compliment to an afternoon at Puerto Diablo, and give visitors the opportunity to learn more about Puerto Rico's past, without having to go too far from the beach. As a matter of fact, you'll find this spot only a cab ride from this historical destination.

The town ofis close-by and is not lacking in exploration opportunities, yet also not overflowing with buildings. From Puerto Diablo, Vieques Town isn't out of reach at seven miles (11 and a half kilometers) away.
The crowdedness of the shoreline can vary widely, it depends on several things: the season, the weather, even how full the nearby hotels are. There are not many major hotels nearby, but it can appeal to visitors from some of the area's smaller options.
You'll find a pretty good variety of hotels and resorts to choose from in the area surrounding the beach. The closest of which have been listed in the following table.

You might not run into any places to grab a bit to eat surrounding this coast, so it would be a good idea to pack a lunch for your day in the sun.
Needless to say, Puerto Diablo isn't the only beach worth visitng on Vieques.
You might also enjoy Naguabo Beach, found 25 and a half miles to the west. More active guests, though, may be interested in Bahia Jalova, which could provide a little more opportunity for excitement, and is closer to nearby attractions. It's located a mile and a half to the south.
You might also want to visit El Gallito, located nine and a half miles away.
Of course, there are lots of other things to do and see in Puerto Rico; then again, Puerto Diablo is both a refreshing place to relax, and a beautiful natural attraction.
