Attractions in Vieux Fort

The fort for which the town of Vieux Fort was named still stands, quietly watching guard over all who inhabit the area, even though military forces have long since abandoned it.  Today, tourists visit this special structure in droves, in addition to many of the other important attractions that are readily available to anyone who wishes to seek them out.

Vieux Fort Beaches

Anse des Sables

You will find a large number of beaches to choose from in and around the area. Snorkeling is available at some locations, if some members of your party enjoy the underwater scene. Click on each beach name for more detail concerning that beach.

Vieux Fort: On your way out here, you'll be rewarded with some wonderful views of mainland St Lucia and the expansive ocean that surrounds it. The sand is a light grey, and the calm water of Vieux Fort Bay is very clear.

Another place for beach-goers to consider is Anse des Sables. Anse des Sables is a far-reaching stretch of white sand beach, which opens out into a shallow bay on the southern end on the island. This windward beach is located on the Atlantic side of St. Lucia, so you may experience strong gusts from the trade winds.

Jalouise: This beautiful beach can only be reached one of two ways -- either through the Jalousie Hilton Resort, or by boat. Those not staying at the resort are still welcomed, however.

Vieux Fort and the surrounding areas are home to several other beaches. Click on this link to check out our page dedicated to beaches for Vieux Fort.
