Nature Preserves and Hiking

Copper Mine National Park

Do you hope to spend more of your vacation time outside? You might be happy to learn the island has a good selection of nature preserves on it and nearby.

Copper Mine National Park is a nature preserve located within southwestern Virgin Gorda. Set at the southwest tip of the island, it takes a drive up a long, winding road to reach the Copper Mine. A paved parking lot is available.

Travelers looking to find a another great natural attraction will be interested in seeing opportunities like Prickly Pear National Park. Prickly Pear National Park is an important habitat for a number of marine animals in the British Virgin Islands. These include sea urchins and fish, and also migratory birds.

Spring Bay National Park: Just east of one of Virgin Gorda's most popular attractions, the Baths, is Spring Bay. Established in 1964 as a National Park, this spot is favored for snorkeling and picnicking.

Parks

Guests can experience either of two parks on Virgin Gorda.

Little Fort National Park is Spanish Town, in southwestern Virgin Gorda. Little Fort National Park is not currently opened to he public. When the park is reopened, tourists will encounter 36 acres of native plants and a turtle nesting ground, as well as a historic munitions building.

Another popular attraction in this category is Devil's Bay National Park. Located in the Valley, Devil's Bay National Park is often visited by tourists who pass through on their way to the Baths, which is just a a short walk from the park. Devil's Bay National Park was established in 1964,
