Nature Preserves and Hiking

Copper Mine National Park

Do you enjoy being outside? You may be happy to learn the island has numerous nature preserves on it and nearby.

Copper Mine National Park is a nature preserve located in southwestern Virgin Gorda. A sign detailing the sites history marks the beginning of Copper Mine National Park. Comrpised of stone ruins of a shimney, mine shaft house, and cistern, there are several trails that snake through the ruins, and a few grassy spots on the hill that are perfect for picnicking.

Adventurers looking to locate a another great natural attraction should consider visiting places like Prickly Pear National Park. Established in 1988, Prickly Pear National Park offers a varied experience for tourists. Trails, mangroves, and beaches mean you can explore, view important wild life, swim and snorkel, or do it all during your day in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda.

Spring Bay National Park: Just east of one of Virgin Gorda's most popular attractions, the Baths, is Spring Bay. Established in 1964 as a National Park, this spot is favored for snorkeling and picnicking.

Parks

Vacationers can experience a couple of parks on Virgin Gorda.

Little Fort National Park is Spanish Town, in southwestern Virgin Gorda. Little Fort National Park is not currently opened to he public. When the park is reopened, tourists will encounter 36 acres of native plants and a turtle nesting ground, as well as a historic munitions building.

Another popular attraction in this category is Devil's Bay National Park. Located in the Valley, Devil's Bay National Park is often visited by tourists who pass through on their way to the Baths, which is just a a short walk from the park. Devil's Bay National Park was established in 1964,
