This privately funded cultural museum has a vast quantity of African artifacts. Anthropology is the focus of this museum and the collections catalog the origins of man in great detail, with a lot of focus on the slave trade era.

What to Expect

Focusing on the predominant cultures of Curacao, the exhibits chronicle the Origin of Man, the African Slave Trade, West African Empires, Pre-Colombian Gold, Mesopotamian Relics and Antillean Art.

When you first enter the museum, the receptionist will greet you with a map of the museum and general information. A guided tour can be requested in many languages and visitors who prefer to walk the museum on their own can request an audio guide in many languages. Special information kits are available of children who wish to learn more about the exam.

There is also a gift shop and restaurant on the premises.

On the site of a former slave yard, even the grounds of the museum are buzzing with history. It is no small feat to tour Kura Hulanda Museum in its entirety because it spans 15 buildings and a sculpture garden.
