Before sailors can dock along the beach, they will need to clear customs in an official port of entry. The nearest one is located in Puerto Morelos, but you can also do so on Cozumel and Isla Mujeres. When you meet with customs, immigrations, and the port captain's office you will need to have all of the official documentation providing proof of ownership of the boat, a list of the crew, and a a list of the ship's stores, plus a passport for every person aboard. After gaining clearance, you can then make your way along the coast to Xpu Ha.
Sailing as an activity for tourists is a bit rugged at the current time, and it often requires travel to get started, but few people can resist the lure of the sea and will work to make it a part of their getaway in Xpu Ha.
