Traveling to Yabucoa by Airplane

Yabucoa's visitors will first fly to San Juan before driving to their final destination

A scenic drive south past the El Yunque National Forest is what tourists planning to fly to their vacation in Yabucoa have to look forward to as they begin planning their trip. There is no airport located directly in this town, which means a flight to Puerto Rico's major international airport will be necessary, followed by a 60 to 70 minute drive – if you don't get the urge to stop and look around along the way.

Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport

The Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in Isla Verde, which is just outside of San Juan, is the major international airport in Puerto Rico, and also serves as a regional hub for air travel in the Caribbean. For this reason, many of the large international air carriers offer flights to the airport several times a day.

If you'll be flying from the states the list below may come in handy. Not all of the options you will see displayed on the web are good options so it's useful to see at a glance which airlines provide direct service to this location.

Traveling to Yabucoa

There are dozens of rental car agencies located at the airport, which will allow you to pick up a vehicle for between $40 and $70(USD) a day to get you to Yabucoa. The drive will begin on PR 26, take you to PR 22, then PR 1 heading south. You'll remain on that road for about half of the journey before exiting to PR 53 south, eventually turning right onto PR 3 heading north, which will get you to Yabucoa. Along the way you'll pass the El Yunque National Forest, which is a popular attraction that many tourists choose to stop and visit during their trip.

Although a little driving is required to get you to your final destination, flying to your vacation in Yabucoa is still the most convenient option available to tourists, and typically the least expensive as well.
