As the name indicates, Plaza Norte is located on Cancun's northern tip. Ranked on Trip Advisor's 2014 list of Best Beaches in the World, this relatively calm beach attracts an eclectic mix of visitors, from locals to excitable tourist and even families with young children. Whether you're looking for a place to swim, sunbathe, play, or enjoy a drink, Playa Norte has everything you could ask for in a beach.
Located in Quintana Roo, Playa Norte is on the East coast of Mexico. You might want to drop by even if you aren't staying particularly close by. If you plan to sunbathe or take a nap on a fairly secluded beach, you should consider going off the beaten path to Playa Norte.

The powder-like sands of Playa Norte offer visitors a comfortable ground upon which to rest, enjoy a picnic, or spend the day sunbathing. The palm trees and thatch umbrellas provide shade when reprieve from the sun is needed, and the cool aquamarine waters are great for swimming even amongst those without much experience in the ocean.
If you're suddenly hungry or thirsty, the concession stand at Playa Norte is the ultimate convenience. You might also have the option to purchase food from one of the local vendors who typically operate along this coastline.
Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. There are three hotel properties situated right on the beach, so hotel patrons often frequent these shores.
If you usually enjoy coasts which grant a relaxing experience, then you may want to try Playa Norte; it's tucked away within a more rural sector of the region.
You'll find this beach on the East coast of Mexico; this area boasts other attractions such as Isla Mujeres Cemetery, which is one of the closest attractions.
If you want to mix a little culture with your trip to the beach, you should consider a trip to Museo Arqueológico de Cancún, one of the closest museums, giving you a chance to see, and learn about, even more of the area.

Tourists at Playa Norte who are hoping to find additional places to explore should consider heading to Isla Mujeres, since it's nearby and is an active, busy area.
The number of other people sharing spots in the sand can vary widely, depending on when you visit, and how full nearby hotel rooms are. The beach is not located close to many large hotels, but you may meet guests from smaller lodgings in the area.
Travelers hoping to find a hotel room near Playa Norte shouldn't find it very difficult, as there are lots of accommodations to pick from in the area. You will find the closest hotel booking options by looking over what's shown in the following table.

You might not run into any places to grab a bit to eat right on this shore, so you may choose to pack a lunch for your day in the sun.
Of course, you'll find other beaches besides Playa Norte in Mexico.
If you like the ambiance at this beach, you might also like Playa Los Cocos, situated five miles to the southeast. If you're on the lookout for more active and social, you might find that Playa Paraiso is just right. It's located eight miles to the southeast.
Another location you may want to try is Playa Pescador, located seven and a half miles away.
Maybe Playa Norte is a perfect spot for you to kick back, and at the same time perhaps not the the ideal fit; if so, there are other beaches and natural attractions in the Yucatan Peninsula you might like.
