Playa Norte

As the name indicates, Plaza Norte is located on Cancun's northern tip. Ranked on Trip Advisor's 2014 list of Best Beaches in the World, this relatively calm beach attracts an eclectic mix of visitors, from locals to excitable tourist and even families with young children. Whether you're looking for a place to swim, sunbathe, play, or enjoy a drink, Playa Norte has everything you could ask for in a beach.

Located on the northeastern part of Quintana Roo, Playa Norte is on the East coast of Mexico. You might want regardless of whether you are staying nearby. This beach is not just another beach attraction, it's one of the rare "quiet" beaches in the Yucatan Peninsula. While Playa Norte might be a little bit out of the way, it permits unparalleled relaxation opportunities.

Amenities and Ambiance

The powder-like sands of Playa Norte offer visitors a comfortable ground upon which to rest, enjoy a picnic, or spend the day sunbathing. The palm trees and thatch umbrellas provide shade when reprieve from the sun is needed, and the cool aquamarine waters are great for swimming even amongst those without much experience in the ocean.

The snack bar located at this spot is perfect for quick lunches and cold drinks, too. Depending on the season and time of day, you may also be able to buy food from one of the mobile vendors who operate at or near this spot.

Please note that public restrooms are not available, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. There are three hotel properties situated right on the beach, so hotel patrons often frequent these shores.

If you like coasts which offer those who visit a serene haven, then you may want to try Playa Norte; it is back in a more rural area of the region.

Some may feel that museums and beaches are an odd combination, but a quite a few vacationers find that museums like Museo Arqueológico de Cancún (one of the closest to Playa Norte) offer a fun learning experience and a whole new way to view the Yucatan Peninsula's traditions and culture.
