The Bacalar Lagoon access at Rancho Encantado is a popular spot for guests of the eco-hotel and of those who happen to be in the area. Definitely more of a natural beach, this spot is best for those looking to explore the area.
Positioned in the vicinity of Chetumal, north-northeast of Bacalar, Rancho Encantado Lagoon Access is on the North West Shore coast of Mexico. You should think about stopping by even if you aren't staying in the vicinity.
The beach is found north of Bacalar along Route 307, on the premises of the Rancho Encantado Ecolodge.
Unlike other parts of the lagoon, there is sand at this access, however, still not enough to spread out. More often than not, you will find that the lagoon covers most of the sand. Still, people do not come to this beach for the sand, but rather for the crystal clear water that the lagoon is known for. This clarity, mixed with the expanse of shallow depth, makes it a great place to explore on kayak, with a snorkel, or even on foot.
Please note that public restrooms are not available, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business. You'll find the waters off-shore to be clear enough for snorkeling, so grab some equipment if you're looking to see what goes on beneath the surface.
