The Acropolis

The Acropolis at Ek Balam is the burial site of King Ukit Kan Le'k Tok' that was discovered with over 7000 relics.

What to Expect

The Acropolis is a popular tourist attractions because it gives a bit more insight into the daily lives of Mayas. While their temples and tales of sacrifice are commonly known, it is rare to hear of the simple things like where they slept. Here at the Acropolis, archaeologists have unearthed stone beds with cubbyholes for storing possessions and other such structures.

This tall stone building includes steep stairs and extensive carvings on the walls.
